This is the day I discovered the functioning of the Goto window. I love it!

Welcome to the GoTo fanclub.

Like you, it took me half a year of connecting Text on a daily dosis, before I finally struck gold with the GoTo function. (typing letters in the topic list was too tempting - it kept me from dicovering the GoTo treasure).

After it was redesigned, the dialog met my demands so perfectly that I immediately assigned a shortcut to it. This has become the shortcut I use the most (except for my AutoHotKey key combinations thanks to Manfred Kuehn)

The goto function seems to be an good thing, unfortunately I couldn't find it apart from code fragment that must be inserted into code of yourself.
Given the name, I would expect to find a preformed function integrated into CT that needs a page it links to and a keyboard shortcut it can be assigned to.
For my use of CT as a GTD tool, this would be very useful: I could assign the "in" page to a keyboard stroke.
Probably I missed a point?

Rainer, I'm not sure if understand you exactly but the "Goto" function is easy to access with either:
 - F4 key
 - Menu "Go" >> "GoTo"
 - Icon (green disc with a bended arrow)

Thanks Chris,
this was the hint I needed. This function is good for my needs, it would be even better if you could prevent CT from considering the search string as being part of a bigger string.  Meaning: when I search "In", I want to be shown only the page with the name "In" and not dozens of others that carry the sequence of the two letters "in" somewhere in the name like "Textbausteine".
A solution could be to show CT that the search string has to match the entire name, for example typing  "^in$", in the regex style where "^" means start of the string, while "$" means end of it. Or CT could be a configured to "show exact matches first" or there could be a setting/button to show them exclusively.

Rainer,

to quickly find a topic that STARTS with the letters IN, simply click into the topic list and type "in" fast enough - you will be taken instantly to the topic that starts with "in".

If however, you prefer to find any instance of "in" within a topic title, use the GoTo function. Since most programs (Microsoft Word, Excel etc) have Ctrl-G (German STRG-G) assigned to GoTo, I decided to make CT compliant with the rest.

Tools > Options > Keyboard > GoTo, then assign Ctrl G, if this is it what you want.

this would be very useful: I could assign the "in" page to a keyboard stroke.

You cannot assign a keyboard shortcut to a specific topic, but if you need your "in"-page more often, assign a Bookmark to it, or create an outline-entry pointing to it, or put a link on your start page, or even better, make your preferred topic the main topic, then tell CT to always open your project with the main topic. (right-click project-tab > Properties > Tabs General + Options)

Stefan,
the assigning a bookmark works great for me. 4 keyboard strokes, and the "in" page is displayed.
Up to now, I never used bookmarks in browsers and so didn't even think they could be a solution, but here they definitively are.
Thanks a lot

If you use a shortcut replacement like AhK and have a topic like ""ct://Planner/Inbox", something like this:

::/in::
Run C:\Program Files (x86)\ConnectedText\ConnText.exe ct://Planner/Inbox
return

will take you to your inbox from any application, even in ConnectedText (no matter what project you are in). In any case, that's what I use.

you might also consider putting a button or link in the "header" for the project so commonly used functions are always available.  I've found this helpful for a few things that I do.
